What we do

UK-Israel flags

We live in a world of increased connections and interdependence through travel, trade and communication. And what happens in one part of the world – whether political, economic or social – directly affects us and the way we live our daily lives.

So we work hard to build and maintain the international and domestic links we need, to maintain and develop our security and prosperity.

The following is an overview of the departments within the Embassy who contribute towards achieving the Foreign Office's policy goals:

The Political Section

The Political Section of the Embassy, or Chancery, promotes bilateral political relations between Britain and Israel, and works closely with the Israeli Government to address international issues of concern. For more information on the type of bilateral work we do, please visit to the UK-Israel relations section of this website.

The Consular Section

The Consular Section provides advisory services and help to British citizens in Israel. It issues British passports and offers registration and notarial services to British subjects in Israel. More information is available on our consular and passport pages.

The Visa Section issues entry clearances or visas for foreign nationals wishing to travel to the UK, in partnership with WorldBridge Services.

The UK Trade & Investment Section

Our UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) Section aims to enhance the economic relationship between the UK and Israel. UKTI's role is to stimulate and build on the Israel-UK trading relationship by providing guidance, advice, and assistance to companies. We also attach great importance to encouraging Israeli firms to realise the potential of the City of London as a major financial centre and to consider setting up business in the UK.

The Science & Innovation Section

Our Science and Innovation Officer aims to promote scientific co-operation between the UK and Israel. The UK has an outstanding record of scientific discovery and is a natural partner of choice for Israel.

The Press & Public Affairs Section

The Press and Public Affairs Section promotes and provides information about Britain and British Government policies to the media and to the general public. It supports the Embassy and the Ambassador in all Public Diplomacy events, by handling briefings, press releases, media planning, media logistics, etc. The section can also offer an extensive range of general information and publications.
