FCO projects

The UK is committed to helping achieve a just, lasting and comprehensive peace for all the peoples in the Middle East. The UK does more than contribute politically to achieve this goal. The British Government is extensively involved in practical measures across the board to engender an environment of co-operation, reconciliation and ultimately peace.

The British Embassy supports a wide variety of projects through the Embassy’s own projects budget and the Global Conflict Prevention Pool (GCPP) – a UK Government scheme aimed at reducing conflict. GCPP is jointly administered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Ministry of Defence and the Department for International Development.

The main objectives of our programmes are:

To support efforts contributing to a peaceful solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, resulting in two states, Israel and Palestinian existing side by side in safe and secure borders.

  • to reduce the causes of conflict between Israelis and Palestinians
  • to build civil society institutions promoting the rights of minorities in Israel
  • to promote respect for human rights in Israel and the Occupied Territories.
