Ambassador Phillips and his wife adopted a labrador called Daisy, a guide dog they had fostered for over a year before she moved to the Guide Dog Centre. During the event Daisy had a homecoming, as she ran around the residence with her two puppies, Romy and Rocky.
Isaac Herzog, the Minister for Welfare and Social Services, and MK Nachman Shai, Chairman of the Israel-UK Parliamentary Friendship League, attended the event.
An obstacle course, which gave the guests the opportunity to be lead by a guide dog while blindfolded, was set up at the residence.
There are around 26,000 people currently living in Israel who are registered blind or partially-sighted, including 1,200 children. This number grows by an additional 2,000 every year.
