Notarial Acts

The Consulate in Tel Aviv can, amongst other things, receive affidavits and declarations, verify copies of documents and witness signatures on legal documents for use in the United Kingdom. The services available and fees payable are listed below.

The Consulate cannot give legal advice or provide a translation service.

Fees are subject to change without notice and can only be accepted in New Israeli Shekels (NIS). Postal applications may only be paid by postal order (hamcha'at doar in Hebrew) or bankers cheque, made payable to the British Embassy or credit card by printing and completing a credit card payment authorisation form (PDF, 55K). Please add NIS 10 if you wish your documents to be returned by registered mail (this is non-refundable). We do not accept personal cheques.

The current consular rate of exchange, effective 1 October 2009, is £1 = 6.50 NIS.

Registering of births, deaths and other Consular services

State Pensions

Changes to the United Kingdom State Pension provisions came into force on 6 April 2005. These changes provide more choice for people reaching State Pension age and it is very important for United Kingdom residents or former United Kingdom residents to be aware of these changes.

The new choices mean people:

• can get more extra State Pension for life when they do finally claim; or
• in certain circumstances, can choose a one-off taxable lump sumpayment; and
• can put off claiming for as long as they want to earn extra State Pension or build up a lump sum payment

The Pension Service has produced a guide, “Your State Pension choice – Pension now or extra pension later: a guide to State Pension Deferral” (SPD1) which contains more detailed information. This can be viewed on The Pension Service website.

Alternatively, customers who want more information about State Pension can contact the International Pension Centre by calling +44 191 21 82828. A textphone service is available for those with speech or hearing difficulties on +44 191 2187270. All services are available free of charge and if customers are concerned about the cost of the call, the operator will take a contact number and call straight back. Opening hours are 8 am to 8 pm (UK time) Monday to Friday, except Bank Holidays.
