Investment in the UK
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the Government organisation that supports both companies in the UK trading internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to locate in the UK .
One of UK Trade & Investment's major objectives is to develop the trading relationship between the UK and the local market.
Our role is to help companies realise their international business potential through knowledge transfer, and on-going partnership support.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) provides Israeli businesses with general information on UK companies and advice on investing in the UK, as well as assistance with joint ventures and UK business practices. We offer guidance on the Science Networking Development Scheme. Our team will also place sales leads for Israeli companies on the British government's UK suppliers database and match Israeli business with UK requirements.
Additional information on the services available from UKTI can be found at: www.uktradeinvest.gov.uk.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI)
The British Government actively supports inward investment, and setting up a business in the UK is straightforward. Overseas companies receive the same treatment as UK owned companies and there are no restraints on repatriation of profits or limitations on borrowing. UKTI is the Government's main inward investment agency; it covers the whole of the UK, and provides a one-stop-shop for advice and guidance, drawing together information from Government and public agencies. The service is both free and confidential.
UKTI provides:
- Help in selecting the best possible location taking into account all requirements - availability of labour, transport, particular commercial needs.
- Information on how to set up in the UK
- Information on the national, regional and local incentives available to encourage investment
- Help in contact with central government, local authorities and essential services
- Contacts with key private and public sector companies.
The UKTI site will answer frequently asked questions such as:
- How do we set up?
- What incentives are given to foreign investment?
- Can we carry out R&D in the UK?
- Does the UK Economy provide the right condition for businesses?
- Will Europe help us out too?

Science Networking Development Scheme (SNDS)
The UK and Israel have established a joint scheme, to encourage co-operation between practising scientists in both countries who are already engaged in nationally funded projects.
SNDS covers travel and subsistence costs for missions, workshops and conferences, dealing with science research topics to which both governments attach priority.

Israel Britain Trade Organisations
The Israel Britain Business Council (IBBC) was established by Prime Ministers John Major and the late Yitzchak Rabin in 1995. Through the involvement of leading entrepreneurs, it aims to accelerate the growth of two-way trade by turning opportunities into real business propositions, promoting joint ventures, continuing to foster close relations, bringing economic growth to the region and thus contributing to the Peace Process. There are four established working groups: Finance, Health, Hi Tech/R & D and Infrastructure.
The Israel British Chamber of Commerce (IBCC), a membership organisation, helps foster commercial links and promotes bilateral trade. It can supply information on business opportunities, has a first-class knowledge of the market, and has up-to-date information on exhibitions and trade fairs. The Chamber organises a programme of trade seminars and clinics, annual business lunches and dinners, as well as conferences, missions and a newly revamped journal. The Chamber aims to service its members' needs by providing networking opportunities and offering an innovative range of activities.
